Elving’s Musings Tumblr Roundup #01

I have a Tumblr sitting alongside my wordpress blog. In 2022, that makes it the equivalent of having a pager alongside my smartphone and tablet. Inspired by Race for the Iron Throne‘s Tumblr Roundup series, I plan to collate my Asks and Responses here, to better direct attention of readers towards some other places where I’ve put my thoughts on Spider-Man and comics. And also if you wish to make specific requests to me you can follow my Tumblr and click “Ask Me Anything”. You can ask anonymously without creating a tumblr account if you are feeling shy.

Here’s the links to all my Tumblr Asks.

  1. Hmm Peter Parker’s main flaws… I would say he is generally an overthinker and a perfectionist, tends to internalize everything (he’s gotten better with age but will probably always have that flaw to an extent), and can sometimes get lost in his head like Reed Richards, but not to the same extent as Richards.

I think the Parker Luck thing works best when Peter is in the 15-20 range because it’s quite normal for a teenager with Peter’s problems to think like that. After that it only works when it’s mild and ironic.

Ditto on Peter having a job that is connected to reality. All the Totem stuff with JMS never took from the Spider-Man tone because everything else (the high school stuff especially) was so grounded in reality and in social commentary.
